The May Fayre

The May Fayre date is set for Sunday the 19th (of May!). Kicking off at midday.

There will be all the old favourites, as well as lots of new stalls and a riot of arena acts. The fun dog show is back, bigger and better; we’re trying for a tug of war; and there’s also a mini food festival evolving.

The world’s best burgers, the stunningly stacked ice creams and the village hall cakes and bakes will be joined by a full blown hog roast, the mouth watering Chandra’s Tiffin (if you haven’t heard of it, you will!) and a home made Turkish grill that promises to sweep us away in a taste sensation. We’re also trying for a small beer tent to accompany the perfect people’s perfect Pimm’s.

As ever, all of this is run by volunteers from the village and the school and every penny of profit goes to the village and the school. The fayre has contributed to the tennis courts, the exercises machines, the kids bike ramps, the church, new windows in the hall and watch out for improvements to some of the public spaces; at the school, what with increasing government cuts, it is helping them stay viable and providing some little extras.

All in all, it’ll be a terrific day, I’m sure the pubs and the Gables will be laying in extras too. So, invite your friends, spread the word and start collecting that loose change!
